TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK
Tsavo West National Park lies some 240 kms from Nairobi along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. The same highway is the boundary between Tsavo West and Tsavo East which is one of the largest game sanctuary in the world, sprawling across 21000 square kilometres of dry bush country. Some of the attractions here includes Mzima Springs. This natural wonder, an oasis in an arid lava plains, pours out 2,250 million litres of water daily that has travelled 48 kilometers under the ground from the Chyulu hills. Hippo, Crocodile and a wide variety of fish can be seen in this crystal clear water from the sunken observation tank.
Elephants, often seen in large numbers are the dominant animal in this lands.Also seen in varying numbers are Buffalo and plains game including the Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk, Eland, Impala and Masai Giraffe.
The Shetani Caves and the Shetani lava flows, the Roaring Rock,Poachers lookout and the Rhino sanctuary offer additional attractions. The Chyulu Hills National Park lies just opposite the Park and is a convenient spot to visit, with spectacular views of Kilimanjaro.
